What is Time in Force (TIF)?

Time in Force determines how long an unfilled order remains active:

  1. Regular Trading Hours (RTH) + Day: Executes only during RTH; canceled after market close if unfilled.
  2. Regular Trading Hours + GTC: Active across trading days, but only executes during RTH.
  3. 24-Hour Trading + Day: Executes during all supported sessions; unfilled portion canceled at 8:00 PM ET.
  4. 24-Hour Trading + GTC: Active across trading days, executes during all supported sessions until filled, canceled, or expired.
