Copy Trading Classic is a portfolio management tool that allows traders to copy trades executed by other experienced traders in the perpetual markets. In Copy Trading Classic, market participants are divided into two roles: Followers and Master Traders.

  1. Followers copy trades from their chosen Master Traders, getting access to advanced trading strategies with a lower barrier to entry.
  2. Master Traders share their strategies, grow their following, and earn a percentage of the net profit from each Follower's trades on Bybit.

Key Advantages

Copy Trading Classic offers key advantages for both Followers and Master Traders:

For Followers

For Master Traders

  1. Portfolio diversification: Spread your investments across different perpetual markets, from crypto to traditional assets.
  2. Access to top traders: Browse and follow Master Traders with verified track records and transparent performance data across leaderboards.
  3. Risk control: Use advanced strategies while managing risk with customizable settings such as investment amount, trailing stop, Perp Copy Stop Loss, and more.

Note: Certain Copy Trading settings may not be adjustable if the Master Trader has enabled the SyncMaster feature.

  1. Earn passive income: Receive a percentage of the net profits generated by your Followers with every successful trade you make.
  2. Tiered rewards: Unlock perks with each level upgrade, such as higher profit-sharing ratios, increased Follower caps, and higher investment limits.
  3. Build your following: Meet performance metrics and criteria to appear on the top leaderboards. Consistent performance attracts more Followers, increasing your profit-sharing earnings over time.

How Copy Trading Classic Works

Copy Trading Classic currently supports only USDT perpetual contracts. When a Master Trader opens a trade, Followers are prompted to copy it. Apart from other factors, Followers can copy the trade either proportionally, based on the ratio of their balance to the Master Trader's balance, or using a fixed margin amount specified in their settings. Followers only copy trades placed after they start following.

For Master Traders:

There are no performance requirements to become a Classic Master Trader. Any users skilled at trading may apply. Simply submit your application from the Copy Trading Classic page using either your Main Account or a Subaccount. For more details on how to apply, refer to this article.

Once you've created a Master Trader Subaccount, you can start trading for your Followers to copy. Complete the missions and meet the level requirements to unlock upgrades, trading perks, and leaderboard visibility.

For Followers:

To get started, select a Master Trader from the Leaderboard or the All Traders tab on the Copy Trading Classic homepage. Next, configure your settings, set your investment amount, and start copying.

Profit Sharing

A Classic Master Trader earns a percentage of the net profit generated by each Follower. In turn, Followers share a portion of their position profits with the Master Trader.

Risks

While Copy Trading Classic offers profit potential, Followers should be aware of the following risks:

  1. Performance Not Guaranteed. A Master Trader's past success does not guarantee future returns. The performance data on the Master Trader's profile is not updated in real time.
  2. Trading Executions Not 100% Identical. A Follower's return on investment (ROI) may not be identical to that of the Master Trader due to certain limitations. These include market conditions, network delays, and timing differences, which may result in different entry points and slippage, affecting the Follower's profitability and ROI. For more information, refer to this article.
  3. Liquidation Risk. Any active position can be liquidated once the applicable liquidation threshold has been reached. As a result, differences in entry time, leverage, and margin levels may cause a Follower's position to be liquidated even when the Master Trader's position remains open.
  4. TradFi Position Closure Restrictions. If you unfollow a Master Trader with an active TradFi Perpetual position whose trading pair is suspended due to a stock split or reverse stock split, the unfollow request can still be processed. However, the affected position cannot be closed, and the related funds cannot be transferred until the corporate action is completed and trading resumes.
