About DeFi Kingdoms (JEWEL)

What Is DeFi Kingdoms (JEWEL)?

JEWEL is the official network token of DeFi Kingdoms, a cross-chain fantasy role-playing game (RPG). DeFi Kingdoms combines a liquidity pool, a decentralized exchange (DEX) and an NFT marketplace to create a browser-based fantasy RPG. 

The play-to-earn game currently has two realms: Serendale, in which the first version is built on the Harmony blockchain (with the second version subsequently launched on Klaytn); and Crystalvale, which runs on the DFK Chain, an Avalanche Subnet. It has been praised for its high-quality fantasy pixel art. 

Players train and work to defend their kingdoms and build Gardens, where they can stake liquidity pool (LP) tokens to earn rewards. They can also purchase NFTs of playable characters, also known as "Heroes,” who can earn JEWEL tokens as quest rewards as they work to protect their kingdoms. 

DeFi Kingdoms (JEWEL) Price

JEWEL started trading at $1.23 on Sep 24, 2021, hovering there for around a month before surging to $4.48 on Oct 21. A brief market correction lowered the price to $3.44 on Nov 11.

The JEWEL token’s value then rose to $9.94 on Nov 22, before declining to $6.42 on Dec 11. From there it rapidly soared, reaching its all-time high of $22.52 on Jan 5, 2022. 

DeFi Kingdoms’ price then faced another market retracement, falling to $16.13 on Jan 11. The next day, a sudden spike took it to $20.26. 

From then on, the price of the JEWEL token sank considerably, reaching a low of $6.57 on Feb 4. JEWEL peaked again at $10.64 on April 1 before dropping again. 

On May 12, DeFi Kingdoms’ price fell below $1 and hasn’t yet broken that marker. June 30 marked its all-time low of just over $0.11. Since then, it’s ranged between $0.11 and $0.30. 

What Is JEWEL Used For?

In DeFi Kingdoms, JEWEL is a utility token with varied uses. You can use it to pay gas fees and to purchase Heroes (in the form of NFTs), to level up Heroes or summon higher-ranked Heroes. You can also use JEWEL to hatch pets that can accompany Heroes on their adventures. When JEWEL is locked in the Jeweler, players receive cJEWEL and sJEWEL as governance tokens for Crystalvale and Serendale, respectively. 

In the developers' road map, they state that future updates to the game will provide additional NFTs and new game modes, as well as more ways for users to earn JEWEL tokens.

DeFi Kingdoms (JEWEL) Tokenomics

According to DeFi Kingdom's white paper, JEWEL had a max supply of 500 million tokens, which was lowered to 125 million. All of these tokens have already been minted, and are either in circulation or have been burned, except for a vested supply that remains unreleased. 

The JEWEL tokens have been distributed as follows:

  • 50% — Development Fund

  • 30% — Quest Rewards Fund (DFK Chain/Klaytn)

  • 15% — Jeweler Rewards (cJEWEL/sJEWEL)

  • 5% — Burned

DeFi Kingdoms was founded by Kingdom Studios, whose developers are identified by their pseudonyms rather than their real names. They include Beetle Dude, Hubert Cumberdale, Frisky Fox, Cinnamon Bun, Dreamer and Bolon Soron.
