EigenDA Launches Custom Quorums for Enhanced Security and Token Yield in Rollups

Daily Top Performer — Akash Network (AKT)

The SPX index was down by 0.32%, impacted by a sector rotation from technology stocks to industries like energy and consumer staples. Major losses in tech were highlighted by declines in Nvidia, AMD, and Tesla. This week's focus will also be on economic indicators such as jobless claims and consumer expenditure data, which could influence interest rate decisions. The broader cryptocurrency market was down, with Bitcoin and Ether dropping by 1.39% and 2.97%, respectively in the past 24 hours.

Today's top performer is AKT, which surged 9.3% following its highlight in the Grayscale Report on blockchain and transparency in the context of decentralizing AI with Akash Network.

Akash Network (AKT), launched in March 2018, is a decentralized cloud platform built with the Cosmos SDK, offering cost-effective computing by utilizing underused capacity. Its native token, AKT, facilitates governance and transactions within the network. Akash Network was featured in a Grayscale report on decentralized AI, which discusses AI's growth to a $15 trillion industry by 2030 and its centralization challenges. The report advocates for blockchain's potential to democratize AI by enhancing transparency and access, highlighting platforms like NEAR and Bittensor for AI development, and Render and Akash for decentralized GPU resources. It also notes the role of AI in crypto markets and its application in addressing issues like deepfakes through blockchain integration.

Talk of the Town:

EigenDA has introduced custom quorums, allowing teams to restake their ERC-20 tokens to secure tailored quorums for their rollups, enhancing security and yielding token returns. This innovation builds on existing ETH and EIGEN quorums by offering rollups a more aligned quorum option, reducing the risk of data withholding attacks. Rollups can now collaborate with the EigenDA team to integrate their tokens into these custom quorums, with plans for a permissionless process in the future. This feature extends the functionality of EigenLayer’s token restaking, facilitating broader staking options and supporting system scalability as more tokens are adopted. Further details and pilot projects will be announced soon.

Airdrop to Watch:

Rumpel Labs is set to launch a DeFi protocol in September that will allow users to tokenize and trade airdrop points, aiming to improve liquidity and price discovery for offchain loyalty points. Supported by venture capital firms like Dragonfly and Variant, the protocol addresses issues such as token underperformance and arbitrary payouts in existing airdrop models. It will enable users to wrap points into Rumpel Point Tokens via a specialized wallet, facilitating transactions among point farmers, investors, and issuers while enhancing transparency of point value.
