Detailed Summary

We did give you a heads up that this week was going to be filled with big earnings action!

Before we enter the weekend, we recap how 3 of our chosen stocks have performed post earnings, and whether they lived up to their respective trade scenarios outlined prior to these earnings releases:

1) Intel respects upside target!

  • July 23: Immediately upon Intel's earnings release at 8:00PM UTC, the stock surged!

Intel got within 33 cents or 0.3% of the $114 upside target, before being resisted around its 21-day SMA!

In other words, getting close to $114 / 21-day SMA was just about as good as it got for bulls (those hoping prices will go up) …

i.e. traders didn't dare send the stock much higher, out of "respect" for our pre-drawn targets.

2) Alphabet initially respected downside target, before sinking another leg lower

  • July 22: Following Alphabet's earnings release at 8:00PM UTC, the stock sank before ending the day within 0.1% (or 39 cents) away from the $336.79 downside target we'd set the day prior (before earnings).

  • July 23: Following Alphabet's announcement of greater capex for 2026 and beyond, markets tumbled further on heightened fears that all this heavy AI spending may not ultimately pay off.

Such fears then sent Alphabet sinking down to a 3-month low ...

... but only after first respecting our immediate post-earnings downside target at the July 22nd close.

3) Tesla also respected our downside target!

  • July 22: Following Tesla's earnings release at 8:00PM UTC, the stock sank to within 0.05% (or 16 cents) of the $353 downside target drawn the day prior (before earnings).

  • July 23: Following both Tesla's and Alphabet's announcements of greater AI capex, markets then tumbled another leg lower.

Such AI spending fears then sent Tesla sinking down to its lowest levels in almost a year (since Aug 2025)

... though only after first respecting our immediate post-earnings downside target prior to the July 22nd close.

What about the 3 Assets to Watch (July 20-24)? Almost there.

Oh so close:

  • On July 22nd, ETH got to within 2.1% (or $42.69) of the $2,000 upside target before easing back lower.

  • Today (Fri, July 24th), EURGBP+ got within 6 pips (0.07%) of our 0.8560 upside target, before meeting resistance at its 21-day SMA - as expected.

  • At the time of writing, NAS100 however remains trapped between its 50-day and 100-day SMAs we'd highlighted in this past Monday's (July 20th) trade setups.

Other notable moves this week:

  • Brent oil surged back to $100 for the first time in 2 months, as oil markets now face traffic disruptions in both the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea (lower supplies = prices rise).

  • The Japanese Yen weakened to a fresh 40-year low against the US dollar (USDJPY+ surged to its highest since 1986)

  • Bitcoin soared to a 1-month high, flirting with the $67k before pulling away.
